Las Galletas started life as a fishing village but nowadays it is a popular resort town in the south of Tenerife. It has a recently constructed marina from which cruises operate and a range of restaurants serve up seafood and fish dishes. It is also possible to go diving from Las Galletas which has its own dive centre which runs diving trips and diving instruction.
Las Galletas, which actually means “The Biscuits” in Spanish, usually has the best of Tenerife weather because it is in the south of the island. This makes it very popular with tourists. Being within a short drive by car or bus to Tenerife South Airport, or Reina Sofia as it is also known, adds to the appeal of the seaside town.
Las Galletas has plenty of Tenerife accommodation for rental, as does the nearby Costa del Silencio with its many community housing complexes. Many people who are looking for Tenerife apartments find what they are looking for here in these places or in the well-known resorts of Los Cristianos and Playa de las Americas which are not far away.
Las Galletas has a very varied range of shops and small businesses including a health store. It has an attractive promenade and lots of bars and restaurants. There are two long beaches and one of these is parallel to the road in and out of Las Galletas. Despite being near to the traffic and having quite a lot of pebbles on it,this beach is very popular with sun-bathers and swimmers too.
It is a wonderful place to watch the sun go down with the many boats bobbing on the waters of the Las Galletas harbour and marina. The choice of restaurants on the seafront promenade makes it an ideal place for a meal and a drink at this time of day too.
